Need a hand finding your next horror film to watch? A24’s Talk To Me looks like a good choice, if the latest trailer is any indication.

While the first trailer for Talk To Me gave us inklings that a disembodied hand covered in tattoos was nothing but bad news for a group of teenagers who found it, the movie’s latest trailer gives us more details as to what can happen if that hand just… doesn’t let go. It’s probably not a surprise to you that bad things happen—some malevolent force behind the hand, it seems, can possess those who grasp it and say the magic words, “talk to me.”

These possessed people then apparently like to stab others with scissors, among other things. The trailer also suggests that the possessed become half-decayed nightmares. (Or maybe those creepily covered hands are corporeal on their own?) Whatever the case, the movie looks suitably terrifying, and I’m glad they kept that poor little bulldog outside the room where they conducted their demonic-calling shenanigans.

Talk To Me stars Sophie Wilde, Miranda Otto, Alexandra Jensen, Joe Bird, Otis Dhanji, Zoe Terakes, and Chris Alosio. The movie is written by Danny Philippou & Bill Hinzman and directed by Danny and Michael Philippou. Based on critics’ praises of this movie, the Philippous have also been tapped to direct the latest Street Fighter film, which strongly suggests it will be well worth a watch, if horror is your thing.

You can give it a fair shake and check it out yourself when it premieres in theaters on July 28, 2023.
