The wheel has been turning… and turning… and turning some more. Prime Video’s adaptation of Robert Jordon’s books premiered in 2021, and while we already knew it would be back for not just season two, but also a third season, what we didn’t know was when the second season would arrive. But finally, there’s a date: September 1st!

Entertainment Weekly announced the premiere date, and you can check out at the end of this post some first-look photos from the second season—including a glimpse of the new Mat Cauthon. Dónal Finn steps into the role, replacing Barney Harris.

The rest of the photos show Rand al’Thor (Josha Stradowski), glowering in a rather Jedi-like robe (the very brown setting is encouraging this impression; did he go to Tatooine?); Moiraine (Rosamund Pike) in a new blue dress with an even bigger skirt, perhaps to make up for the loss of her connection to the One Power; Lan (Daniel Henney) looking cool as hell, as usual; and Egwene (Madeleine Madden) and Nynaeve (Zoë Robins) suffering some odd costume choices while beginning their training as Aes Sedai.

And, yes, the Seanchan Empire are here, as the end of the first season teased. Season two is expected to cover much of the series’ second book, The Great Hunt, though elements from other novels may appear as well.

Prime video posted a tiny teaser on Twitter which included a super-fast flash of a bit of text that was immediately deciphered:

The Wheel of Time returns to Prime Video on September 1st.
