These young sea monsters, like their Disney cousin Ariel before them, just want to be part of our world—but their adventures are a little more down-to-earth. Disney/Pixar’s Luca follows two sea-dwelling boys, Luca (Jacob Tremblay) and his friend Alberto (Jack Dylan Grazer) who spend a summer experiencing what land has to offer: scooters, suspicious cats, obnoxious bullies, gelato, and friendship, among other things. Sun-soaked and sweet, the trailer promises a story about silencing your inner critic and learning to take a few risks in life.

Here’s the film’s official summary:
Set in a beautiful seaside town on the Italian Riviera, Disney and Pixar’s original feature film Luca is a coming-of-age story about one young boy experiencing an unforgettable summer filled with gelato, pasta and endless scooter rides. Luca shares these adventures with his newfound best friend, but all the fun is threatened by a deeply-held secret: they are sea monsters from another world just below the water’s surface. Directed by Academy Award® nominee Enrico Casarosa (“La Luna”) and produced by Andrea Warren (“Lava,” Cars 3), Luca releases June 18 on Disney+.
That last bit was first announced last month, with the latest round of release-date shuffle. Luca will skip theaters entirely and be available on Disney+ for no extra fee.
