Oscar Isaac might have a new gig ahead of him on Disney+. According to Variety, Isaac is in negotiations to star in Marvel’s upcoming series Moon Knight as Marc Spector, a soldier who’s betrayed and left for dead in Egypt, only to be given a second chance by the Moon god Khonshu as his avatar.

The news is far from a sure thing—Orphan Black actress Tatiana Maslany recently pushed back on word that she had been cast in Marvel’s She-Hulk adaptation—but if accurate, it’ll mean a return to the world of Marvel comics for Isaac, who appeared in 2016’s lackluster X-Men: Apocalypse (as Apocalypse). It will also mean continued work under Disney, following his portrayal of Poe Dameron (pictured above) in the most recent Star Wars trilogy.

Marvel announced the series last year at its D23 Expo, along with a handful of other live-action shows destined for Disney+, including the aforementioned She-Hulk, as well as Hawkeye and Ms. Marvel. The character becomes an avatar for Khonshu, but there’s a significant catch for the god: his powers are only as strong as the moon’s current phase.

This new batch of shows will be part of the next MCU phase, and will likely be more closely incorporated into the events of the films, unlike the Netflix sub-franchise that included Daredevil, Iron Fist, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and The Punisher. It’ll be a little while before the next crop of shows appear on the streaming service: WandaVision is set for release sometime this fall, while Loki and The Falcon and Winter Soldier are slated for release sometime in 2021.
