Reactor

There are five Tuesdays in May, so more May books, so you get more time to read. That’s how it works, right? We’re pretty sure that’s how it works. You’re going to need all that time, because there’s a lot to get to: R.F. Kuang’s debut, The Poppy War; the start of a new series from Raymond Feist; a new Court of Thrones and Roses book from Sarah J. Maas; Stephanie Garber’s sequel to CaravalLegendary; Victoria Aveyard’s fourth Red Queen book; and Lily Anderson’s endearingly named Undead Girl Gang, just for starters!

Allied (Ruined #3)—Amy Tintera (May 1, Harper Teen)

Death Doesn’t Bargain (Deadman’s Cross #2)—Sherrilyn Kenyon (May 8, Tor Books)

Above the Snowline—Steph Swainston (May 8, Gollancz)
This is Jant Shira’s life before the drugs took over, as a hunter in the mountains. Awian exiles are building a stronghold in the Darkling mountains, where the Rhydanne hunt. Their clash of interests soon leads to bloodshed and Shira Dellin, a Rhydanne huntress, appeals to the immortal Circle for justice. The Emperor sends Jant, half-Rhydanne, half-Awian, and all-confidence, to mediate. As Jant is drawn into the spiralling violence he is shaken into coming to terms with his own heritage and his feelings for the alien, intoxicating Dellin.

Onyx & Ivory—Mindee Arnett (May 15, Balzer + Bray)

American Hippo—Sarah Gailey (May 22, Tor.com Publishing)

The Testament of Loki—Joanne Harris (May 22, Saga Press)
The end of the world—known as Ragnarok to the Norse gods—has occurred, and Loki has been trapped in a seemingly endless purgatory, in torture, until he finds a way to escape. It seems that he still exists in the minds of humanity and uses that as a way to our time. Back in the ninth world (Earth), Loki finds himself sharing the mind of a teenage girl named Jumps, who is a bit of a mess. She’s also not happy about Loki sneaking his way into her mind, since she was originally calling on Thor.
