The Art From the Relatively Unknown A Storm of Swords Illustrated Edition is Gorgeous

Illustrator Charles Vess has a real treat for fans of the Song of Ice and Fire series–he has revealed some of the artwork he did for a special limited run of George R.R. Martin’s A Storm of Swords., the third volume in the Song of Ice and Fire (i.e. Game of Thrones) book series. It is incredibly lovely, of course.

Here is what Vess had to say on Facebook about the project:

Many, many years ago I illustrated (before there was even a whisper of a TV series) George R. R. Martin’s novel, ‘A Storm of Swords’. It was a very limited edition of approx. 450 copies, all signed by George and myself, and sold out very soon after it went to press. But because it was so limited very few people were able to see the art so here’s a bit of it. I eventually produced 70 b/w pieces and 6 color paintings.

And here are a few of the images he posted….
