Timescape Author Gregory Benford Honored with Forrest J. Ackerman Award

The Los Angeles Science Fantasy Society has honored scientist and author Gregory Benford with the 2016 Forrest J Ackerman Award for Service to Science Fiction. Benford will join the ranks of such other “Forry Laureates” including Charles Lee Jackson II, Spider Robinson, and Lois McMaster Bujold.

Gregory Benford is the author of the Nebula Award-winning Timescape, and, with Larry Niven, The Bowl of Heaven and Shipstar. You can read excerpts of these novels, as well as some of Bedford’s short fiction, here on Tor.com, including his most recent short story, “Backscatter“.

The Forry Awards are named in honor of Forrest J. Ackerman, the sci-fi writer and fan who inspired generations of SFF community members with his magazine, Famous Monsters of Filmland.
