Dave McKean Should Illustrate All of Our Dreams: Art from the Sandman Collection Dream States

Artist Dave McKean previewed some of his transmissions from the dreamworld on Facebook! These gorgeous pieces will be included in Dream States, a new book publishing this November from Vertigo, collecting McKean’s cover art from The Dreaming, Sandman Presents, and Sandman: Overture, plus lots of new drawings and a short story written by Neil Gaiman. We’ve included a few of our favorites below, and we can’t wait to see more!

Our favorite nightmare was actually Roderick Burgess’ nightmare of eternal waking, but The Cornithian is a close second:

Is this Merv Pumpkinhead revealing his true face?

Do you like ravens? Do you like… ravens eating eyeballs? (We’re assuming you do, since you’re reading a Sandman-related post.)

Here are some slightly more friendly looking birds, but we suppose all things are relative in the dreamworld…

And who doesn’t love a dapper cosmic juggler?

Finally, McKean lends his artistic flair to Neil himself!
