Variety is reporting that Miles Teller, Kate Mara, Jamie Bell, and Michael B. Jordan have been cast as the Fantastic Four in Fox’s forthcoming reboot of the Marvel Comics series. The outlet claims that Teller and Mara will portray Reed Richards and Susan Storm as Mr. Fantastic and the Invisible Woman, with Jamie Bell featured as Ben Grimm’s The Thing, and Michael B. Jordan cast as Sue Storm’s brother Johnny, aka the Human Torch.
The reboot is said to be based on the Ultimate Fantastic Four comic series, which portrayed the super group as a modern, youthful group of young geniuses (well, and Ben) given superpowers as an unforeseen side effect of opening a portal to a parallel universe dubbed The Negative Zone. No villain has been revealed but, come on, Doom does not get saved for sequels.
The movie studio has not confirmed Variety’s report, though all four actors have previously been rumored to be involved with the project. In a manner akin to Sony’s revival of the Spider-Man movie franchise, Fox is moving quickly to produce a Fantastic Four movie to prevent the movie rights to the characters from reverting to Marvel, so a cast announcement was expected to be made soon. The film is currently scheduled for release on June 19, 2015.
Is this our new Fantastic Four?
