I love this already... how long does it take between pages? Who does the writing and who does the art? Do you keep a buffer of pages ready to be released? Do you have the story all planned out or is it a bit random...or both?
So many questions! Nathan :)

Nathan -- new episodes are published every Thursday. I'll see if we can get Kurt and Zelda to stop by and talk about their process a bit.

Nathan - Our goal is to deliver four pages to Tor at the start of each month.
This gives us a four week buffer to create the next batch.
I'm the writer and penciler while Zelda serves as the colorist and sounding board. We each don our art directors cap while the other is working.
As far as creating the story, it's both planned and random. I know what's necessary for each page to progress the story, but I'm working out the specifics during the breakdown stage. I don't do scripts instead I work out dialogue directly on the breakdowns, which go through two passes before I send them off to Irene and Pablo for feedback. After that it moves on to the pencils, which go through a rough stage and then final line work. The roughs are where I really nail down the placement and work out perspective. After that Zelda scans the pages. She then runs the magic fairy dust filter on them in photoshop and voilà, gerbils.
Hope that answers some questions.

Brilliant work. I really enjoyed the surprise of the gerbil metropolis and the tension it creates between the boy-king and his fellow residents.

I don't know if there are previous pages than the set I am looking at, which begin with Charlie declaring his empire. So I don't know if the rock, the robot, the computer, and the gerbils have any prior history or that is something that's going to be explored.

I'm looking forward to whatever comes next. (And if it's as well done as what I've seen so far, I'm looking forward to buying the book for myself and my daughter.)

the new super-robot is an interesting design...do we have a Battletech fanatic here? Regardless, I love the artwork, and my son's asking me for more gerbil stories.

Is there a way to subscribe to updates to just this one title? Or do I just have to remember to pop back in every Thursday?

Every once in a while, I find a comic that's fun and has storytelling so strong that I have to examine a page for at least 10 minutes. This comic is filled with that kind of storytelling.

I like the expression on the alien's, uh, face in the last panel. Nice job registering emotion without any facial features!
