Here’s All the Important Stuff That Happened at San Diego Comic Con 2013

Avengers: Age of Ultron, Man of Steel 2: Batman*, Doctor Who’s 50th anniversary, Mulder and Scully having sex, X-Men: Days of Future Past, George R. R. Martin smashing people’s guitars, Guardians of the Galaxy... this year’s San Diego Comic Con was intense.

*Working title! Heh.

Since most folks had a nice, relaxing weekend, we’ve assembled the highlights from this year’s SDCC in one handy list for easy perusal.

 

The Avengers Movie Universe

Avengers 2 is Officially Avengers: Age of Ultron: Featuring reveals from Thor: The Dark World, Captain America: Winter Soldier, and lots of new stuff from Guardians of the Galaxy!

Joss Whedon Gives More Details on Avengers: Age of Ultron: A video interview with Joss where he reveals more about the Avengers sequel.

Wait, Joss Whedon Said Whaaat About Avengers 2?: Whedon drops a hint at the Dark Horse Whedonverse spotlight and Chris Lough speculates madly.

“We need you to hope again.” X-Men: Days of Future Past Puts All the X-Men on Stage in Hall H!: The Fox movie panel featured the 20 person cast from the upcoming X-Men film, plus footage, and hints about movies beyond.

 

Spider-Man Movie Universe

Andrew Garfield is Totally Up For Being in the Avengers: Amazing Spider-Man 2 at SDCC : Spider-Man was the guest star at the panel about his own movie and viewers got a huge amount of information about Amazing Spider-Man 2 and the larger plan beyond that.

SDCC Amazing Spider-Man 2 Teaser Shows Electro in Action: A taste of what Electro will look and act like in the Spider-Man sequel.

 

The DC Comics Movie Universe

Warner Bros. Announces Batman and Superman to Clash in Man of Steel Sequel: Warner Bros. made a huge splash by committing to a shared universe between Batman and Superman, but did not confirm a leaked report about a 2017 Justice League film.

 

Game of Thrones

Awkward Shoulder Rubs From Tywin Lannister. Highlights from the SDCC Game of Thrones: The Game of Thrones cast and crew assembled and talked about the shocking events of season 3. Khal Drogo also...well, you’ll have to see.

George R. R. Martin Busts Up Paul & Storm’s Show Like They’re the Stark Family: You HAVE to watch this. At the adjoining Wootstock, George R. R. Martin violently and hilariously responds to criticisms of his writing speed... then Neil Gaiman jumps in the fray!

 

Doctor Who’s 50th Anniversary

Daleks for the 50th! Highlights From Doctor Who at San Diego Comic Con: The audience got to see the first footage from the 50th anniversary special, which confirmed some facts about John Hurt’s Doctor character, and a lot more.

Matt Smith Wants the Doctor to Regenerate Into A Woman: The Eleventh Doctor could not be contained! Watch this adorable panel with him, Kit Harington (Jon Snow) and Stephen Yuen (Glenn from The Walking Dead).

I would be tempted to ask where's the Comic book news in there, but I guess ComicCon stopped being about comics rather a while back.

There's a post summarizing all the comics stuff over on Heidi MacDonald's Comics Beat website (as well as a number of other summary posts) that covers all the comics news. A previous attempt to post a link never got approved by Stubby, so I'm pointing people there without an actual link...
