Tons of Hunger Games Movie Stills Put Online

LiveJournal user Oh No They Didn’t just made everyone’s Leap Day by scanning in over 60 stills from the upcoming Hunger Games movie, with tons of shots of the tributes, the game itself, and the assorted characters, including the Girl on Fire herself, Katniss.

The stills come from Scholastic Books’ Illustrated Movie Companion, which is out on the shelves now.

Below, some of our favorite shots.

This shot makes it really hard to imagine that all of these children will soon be trying their damndest to kill each other. They just look grumpy about prom.

This, combined with the subway ads that have just started appearing, are making us ridiculously excited for this movie. You can see more pics at Oh No They Didn’t.

Stubby the Rocket is the mascot of Tor.com and would ferry all of the tributes to safety if it could only figure out where the arena is and in what district and how the districts are shaped and mapped and is the U.S. flooded? Have we taken that into account? And...

Awesome pics - not going to look at the site, because I don't want to be *too* spoiled...want to save some of it for the actual movie-watching experience, but I very much like what I'm seeing so far!! Katniss looks so perfect.

Bah. I don't like the costume design. Especially the kid's dresses. Looks like the frump that would have come out of the Project Runway prom dress challenge. I hope the clothes look better in motion.

That dress does not live up to Girl on Fire -- if that's what the handlers dubbed her for marketing purposes. I can't quite recall the handle but I do recall all the breathless text given to the unique qualities of the dress!

The other "dresses" look a weird mingle of already wild samba school outfits for carnival in Rio, the Children of Dune costuming (which I thought worked marvelously in those series) and the appropriate Red Carpet recent preferences. That's how they came across in the books too. Which might be just right, at least the Carnival and Red Carpet influences, since the Games are designed to be above all a television spectacle, just like the other two.

Love, C.
