Reading with Jo Walton & Charles Stross + Tor.com Meet-up TONIGHT

Geek Week at Housing Works cafeJust a reminder that the Housing Works Geek Week reading with Jo Walton and Charles Stross is tonight and will be followed by a Tor.com mini meet-up at Botanica! Everything starts at 7. The details:

We’re teaming up with the excellent AIDS-relief organization Housing Works to host an evening celebrating Geek Week—featuring award-winning authors Jo Walton, Charles Stross, a live set by Ninja Sex Party, Tor giveaways, and more! This marks the first time that either author has appeared in NYC  (yes, we mean EVER), and it promises to be a fun, illuminating, and geeky good time. And it all goes down at Housing Works Bookstore Cafe (126 Crosby Street, New York, NY 10012) on Tuesday, February 22 at 7:00 p.m.

After the reading, there is a mini Tor.com meet-up at nearby Botanica Bar! (Basement level of 47 E. Houston St, between Mulberry St & Mott St.) We hope to see you there!

Stubby the Rocket is the mascot of Tor.com and tends to be a handle for various members of the staff.

Well, I was there! It was quite a crowd, and quite a pleasure to meet Jo Walton, and have her sign my copy of FARTHING. She read from her new book, and Charles Stross read a funny short story about dealing with the Devil. (Other people found the music more amusing than I did.) Several Goodie Bags were raffled off, and Housing Works was discounting sci-fi/horror, etc, so everyone went away happy.
