Have Questions for Scott Westerfeld? Let Us Know!

Tor.com is going to sit down with Scott Westerfeld next week to talk about—well, whatever you want! I probably won't be able to stop myself from gong on about his upcoming book Behemoth, sequel to last year's Leviathan, but you Midnighters and Peeps and Uglies fans and aspiring writers and steampunk types and Team Zombie and everyone else should chime in, too! Leave a comment with a question you'd like us ask Scott next week, and we'll pick as many as we have time for. (We're already starting the interview with, “Why are you so awesome? Were you once bitten by a radioactive awesome?”)

I love the novel So Yesterday, so could you ask Scott where he came up with the idea of "cool hunters" and "innovators"?

"What inspires you?" I'm a literature student, and that's one of the first questions I ask any author.

Are we going to see any more Sucession novels? I really enjoyed "The Risen Empire" and "The Killing of Worlds", but I would love to see more in this universe.

If you could live in the world of any of your books, which would you choose... and why?

I also like "If you could live in any of the universes you created, which one and why?"

More observations than questions:

1) I too would love to see more books in the Risen Empire series.
2) My favorite parts are the weird little parasitology factoids in Peeps and the quirky pop culture factoids in So Yesterday. The geek in me loves those things. I actually went out and bought a copy of Parasite Rex (a wonderful book) on Scott's recommendation in Peeps.

"What do you plan to do after the Leviathan trilogy?"

1) What are you planning on writing after the Leviathan series?

2)Are you ever planning on writing a YA zombie series?

3) I'm want to be a YA writer and will soon be graduating from college.... I know that I can't start writing a YA series and expect to get published right away, and so what sort of advice can you give me about breaking into the business? What sort of jobs should I be applying for?

Does living in Australia part of the time affect your writing? Do you think there are different cultures of writing/fandom between the continents?

...They are bi-contintental, right? I didn't make that up?

How do you feel about being one of the heavyweights of new literature in the "Steampunk genre"? Are you into the steampunk subculture? If so, what do you like about it?

When you write, do you listen to or are you inspired by music? And for a historical piece like this, do you have any music that inspired it/has the same feeling you'd recommend for us?

You've gone from a strong sf/cyberpunk background to a steampunk trilogy here; how did the cyberpunk aspect help with this work? How was it different/make it harder? There must be some similarities with stuff like genetic engineering, which you have even in your earliest books, but could you talk a little about the journey you took from there to here?

After reading The Last Days I can't help but wonder:
1. What kind of music do you like? (What's your favourite?)
2. What kind of "sound" was the band meant to have? Did you leave it deliberately vague? (I think I'm totally projecting my own preferences!)

Can you talk about some ways that being married to a writer helps your own writing...or any issues that you find you need to work around?
