Alpha Workshop Prize Pack Sweepstakes!

Every summer since 2002, the Alpha Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Horror Workshop for Young Writers has welcomed 20 teens to the University of Pittsburgh–Greensburg campus for an intense 11 days of writing, critiquing, and lectures from top authors in the fields of science fiction, fantasy and horror. This year, guest authors include Malinda Lo, Max Gladstone, Amal El-Mohtar, and Tamora Pierce.

We want to send you a prize pack of books by Alpha staff and alumni, and let you know how you can support the workshop!

One of Alpha’s goals is to ensure that no prospective student has to miss out for financial reasons, so this week, they’re running a scholarship drive. Donors at the $10 level or above will receive an e-book of the Alphanthology, a collection of illustrated flash fiction by past Alphans. Other thank you gifts include signed cards from the class of 2016, and high quality prints of Alphanthology illustrations.

Alphans have sold novels and published short stories in dozens of markets, including Lightspeed, Clarkesworld, Analog and Strange Horizons. Many of them have placed and won in contests such as The Dell Magazine Award, Writers of the Future, and the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards. One of them is Tor’s Seth Dickinson, author of The Traitor Baru Cormorant—which is part of our Alpha Workshop Prize Pack! Two lucky winners will receive one copy of each of the following books:

The Traitor Baru Cormorant by Seth Dickinson
Technologies of the Self by Haris Durrani
Jala’s Mask by Mike and Rachel Grinti
RadiantDefiant, and Towers Fall by Karina Sumner-Smith
