If you missed Evil Dead Rise, the delightful sequel that brings the franchise back to its original films, when it was in theaters, then I have good news for you: to promote the movie’s release on digital, Warner Bros. Entertainment released the first ten minutes of the film, which you can check out above.

Did you watch the footage above? That makes one of us! I like some horror fare, but body horror flicks like Hellraiser and Evil Dead are way outside my comfort zone. I did manage to watch some of the red band trailer, so I know that a cheese grater makes an appearance that I really, really didn’t need to see. Is that cheese grater shot in the first ten minutes? I have no idea! If I had to guess, however, I’d say no: cheese grater action seems more like a climax moment to me than an opener. (ed note: The cheese grater appears in the middle of Evil Dead Rise; the first ten minutes is a standalone possession story, with the movie then jumping back in time to the main events of the film. Honestly? It could’ve used even more cheese grater!)

Here’s the official synopsis for the movie I will not be watching:

Moving the action out of the woods and into the city, Evil Dead Rise tells a twisted tale of two estranged sisters, played by Alyssa Sutherland and Lily Sullivan, whose reunion is cut short by the rise of flesh-possessing demons, thrusting them into a primal battle for survival as they face the most nightmarish version of family imaginable.

Evil Dead Rise is now available for digital rental or purchase on Vudu and presumably other platforms as well.
