Looking for more very, very dark DC-related entertainment? The upcoming series, The Penguin, has got you covered, if the trailer Warner Bros. Discovery just dropped is any indication.

The eight-episode series centers on Colin Farrell’s rendition of The Penguin (including that horrible fat suit) that he played in Matt Reeves’ The Batman.

Penguin will sit immediately after the end of The Batman and temporally before the events of the second movie,” HBO Max programming, Head of Originals Sarah Aubrey said a few months ago, adding that the show will come out in between the first and second The Batman films helmed by Reeves.

“You ain’t seen what I can do,” Farrell as Penguin says as the trailer shows us what he can, indeed, do. One thing he can do, it seems, is casually shoot a guy he’s conversing with on a comfy couch and then quietly laugh in an unhinged manner. As you do. In the trailer, Farrell’s Penguin then proclaims himself the new kingpin of Gotham, which is a clue that the series will focus on him becoming the big bad crime boss of the city.

In addition to Farrell, the cast of the series includes Cristin Milioti, Rhenzy Feliz, Michael Kelly, Shohreh Aghdashloo (aka Avasarala from The Expanse!), Deirdre O’Connell, François Chau (aka Jules-Pierre Mao from The Expanse!) ,Clancy Brown, and Michael Zegen. The series is executive produced by Matt Reeves, Dylan Clark, Colin Farrell, Lauren LeFranc, who writes and serves as showrunner, Craig Zobel, who directs the first three episodes, and Bill Carraro.

The Penguin premieres on Max (the newly rebranded streaming formerly known as HBO Max) some time in 2024.
