The latest Hellboy adaptation co-written by comic book creator Mike Mignola has found its titular character.

According to Variety, Jack Kesy will play a younger version of the character we’ve seen Ron Pearlman and David Harbour portray before. The movie, which will be directed by Brian Taylor and produced by Millennium Media and Telepool, centers on Mignola’s Crooked Man run. It will, according to Variety, feature Hellboy in his early days at the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense (BPRD), where he and another young agent find themselves in a 1950s rural Appalachian town full of witches, who follow a devilish leader called The Crooked Man.

“Jack Kesy is a dynamic actor who has the ability to morph into his roles. His talent and stature are perfect for this younger Hellboy. I was very impressed with him while working together on The Outpost,” Millennium Media co-president Jonathan Yunger said in a statement.

If you haven’t heard of Jack Kesy before, you’re not alone! As Yunger mentioned, he does appear in The Outpost (pictured above) an Amazon Original film starring Orlando Bloom based on the real-world experience of a group of soldiers in Afghanistan, and also in Deadpool 2.

No news yet on who will take on the two other lead roles that were teased when the project was first announced.
