Disney Has Pushed The Marvels Release Date to Later This Year

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania has just invaded a theater near you, but if you’re already looking forward to what’s coming up after that in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, then I have some news for you: Disney released a poster for The Marvels today (which you can see at the end of this post) that also revealed that the film starring Brie Larson, Teyonah Parris, and Iman Vellani will no longer come out this July.

The poster features the aforementioned stars, who play Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel, Monica Rambeau(/Spectrum, probably) and Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel respectively, and also slyly has a release date of “November 10” listed at the bottom. Before this poster dropped, The Marvels had a release date of July 28, which means that the three will now fly higher, further, faster just before Thanksgiving instead of during the summer.

The Marvels will take place after the events of the Disney+ series, Ms. Marvel, where Larson’s Carol Danvers makes a brief cameo at the end that has some unexpected results for her and Kamala. Looking for more details on the film? Marvel head Kevin Feige also recently shared that the movie will pick up “directly after the end of Captain Marvel 1, not in timeline but in story,” whatever that means. He also said that comic fans would “recognize elements of the Kree-Skrull war.”

The Marvels wasn’t the only Disney film that got its release date reshuffled. Haunted Mansion, a movie inspired by the attraction at several Disney theme parks, has had its premiere date moved up a couple of weeks and will now open on The Marvels old release date of July 28, 2023.
