Natasha Lyonne’s Charlie Cale will continue to find murder wherever she travels! Peacock has officially greenlit Poker Face for a second season.

The show from Lyonne and Rian Johnson follows Charlie as she travels across the country in her beat-up car wearing eclectically artful outfits. Charlie is on the run from some casino-owning mobsters, you see, and wherever she ends up, there also happens to be an impressively crafted murder.

The series is a “how catch ‘em” rather than a whodunit, with each episode starting out with us seeing how a specific murder was actually carried out. Once the murder is committed, we first see how Charlie happens to be in the area of said murder, and then get to gleefully watch as she unravels who committed the crime, sometimes with the help of her uncanny and unfailing ability to know when someone is lying.

I’ve watched the entire first season of Poker Face, and find it to be an utter delight and a comforting watch. Lyonne is fantastic as Charlie, and each episode has a bevy of A-list guest stars, which include Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Adrien Brody, Ron Perlman, Stephanie Hsu, Tim Meadows, Benjamin Bratt, Lil Rel Howery, and Luis Guzmán.

According to Peacock, I’m not the only one who loves the show. “Poker Face is one of those rare, undeniable shows that we all fell in love with from the start, but the critical acclaim and viewer response has been beyond our wildest dreams,” Susan Rovner, Chairman of Entertainment Content at NBCUniversal TV and streaming said in a statement. “Working alongside the creative genius of Rian Johnson, Natasha Lyonne and Ram Bergman, along with our partners at MRC and T-Street, has been a spectacular ride, and we can’t wait to hit the road for another season as we continue to build momentum across Peacock’s originals slate.”

The first season of Poker Face is currently running on Peacock, with new episodes dropping each Thursday.
