If the post-apocalyptic train wants to keep going, it’s going to have to find a new track. Deadline reports that Snowpiercer will not air on TNT.

Snowpiercer was the last scripted series standing at TNT, and the fourth season is complete.

According to Deadline, Tomorrow Studios, which produces the series, is looking for a new home for the fourth season—along with a sequel and prequel that would build the show into a franchise. This would extend Snowpiercer‘s already long journey to the small screen. In 2013, Bong Joon-ho adapted the French graphic novel Snowpiercer into an unforgettable and bleak film starring Chris Evans and Tilda Swinton, some truly horrifying protein bars, and Ed Harris.

Seven years later, the series—created by Graeme Manson (Orphan Black) and Josh Friedman (The Sarah Connor Chronicles)—premiered on TNT. Starring Daveed Diggs and Jennifer Connelly, the show was an immediate hit; Deadline notes that it “premiered as the No. 1 new scripted drama on all of ad-supported cable in 2020.”

As with the cancelation of everything from Batgirl to Westworld, the decision not to air Snowpiercer‘s final season has to do with tax write-offs. Makes you wonder if perhaps this system is a bit flawed, doesn’t it?
