Mindy Kaling’s adult animation series, Velma, is about to drop on HBO Max, and a new trailer for the show reveals that Velma (voiced by Kaling) will be bringing the Scooby gang together to solve a murder where a classmate literally loses their mind.

The trailer reveals that Velma is the lead suspect in the murder of a classmate who was stuffed in a locker with her brains removed. In order to clear her name, she gathers Shaggy (Sam Richardson), Fred (Glenn Howerton), and Daphne (Constance Wu) together to help, even though none of them are friends with each other. (Daphne and Velma, however, used to be friends, and the way the screen gets tinged pink when the two touch, I can’t help but wonder if there will be a romantic spark between them as the series progresses.)

These are not the Hanna-Barbera versions of Shaggy, Fred, and Daphne, however, and neither is Velma. If the trailer is any indication, the show is raunchy and satirically leans into the stereotypes of each of the characters—Fred, for example, says at one point that, “I have a disease where I can’t recognize people who aren’t hot.”

If that sounds like your thing, you only have to wait hours—Velma premieres on HBO Max on Thursday, January 12.
