There’s a Deadpool Christmas Movie Script Out There, Just Asking To Be Made

‘Tis the season to talk about Christmas movies that have yet to be made! It turns out that there’s a Deadpool one that Ryan Reynolds wrote with Deadpool co-writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick that sadly never got made.

In an interview with Big Issue to promote his current Christmas movie, Spirited, Reynolds dished how he wants to bring the holiday spirit as well as some musical delights to Deadpool.

“I would love to see a song-and-dance number in a Deadpool movie,” he said. “Four years ago, Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick and I wrote a Christmas movie starring Deadpool. But it got lost in the shuffle of Disney acquiring Fox and it never got made.”

Let’s hope that Marvel head honcho, Kevin Feige, decides its worth re-discovering that holiday-themed Deadpool script. It’s not out of the realm of possibility, especially given that the Marvel Cinematic Universe is already entering holiday special territory with the release of the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special (which introduces Kevin Bacon as Kevin Bacon!) on November 25th.

Reynolds, for one, is hopeful.

“Maybe one day we’ll get to make that movie,” he added. “It’s not a musical, but it’s a full Deadpool Christmas movie. So one day.”

We along with Reynolds will have to wait and see, although we do know that Reynolds will play the Merc with a Mouth at least one more time in Deadpool 3, which will also see the return of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine.
