Russian Doll’s Natasha Lyonne is channeling her inner Columbo in the upcoming Peacock series Poker Face. The show from Knives Out writer-director Rian Johnson has Lyonne playing Charlie Cale, a mystery-solving sleuth who has the (supernatural?) ability to tell when someone is lying. And based on the teaser that dropped today, it looks like her extraordinary skill can get her in trouble more often than not.

If this teaser is any indication, Poker Face looks great! Lyonne is amazing, as usual, and the structure of the show also promises a lot of special guest stars like Adrien Brody, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Ron Perlman, Chloë Sevigny, Clea DuVall, Jameela Jamil, and Lil Rey Howery.

Here’s the show’s official synopsis:

Poker Face is a 10-episode “mystery-of-the-week” series following Natasha Lyonne’s Charlie, who has an extraordinary ability to determine when someone is lying. She hits the road with her Plymouth Barracuda and with every stop encounters a new cast of characters and strange crimes she can’t help but solve.

“Never underestimate the power of a good dinner conversation between friends,” Johnson and Lyonne said in a joint statement. “What started as a discussion over steak frites about detective shows and what made them such a reliable pleasure — the exploration of little worlds within each new setting, the guest stars playing killers and victims, and most importantly, a scrappy protagonist you were always ready to kick back with and see win — ultimately resulted in the creation of Charlie, the driving force behind Poker Face.”

Get some steak frites of your own and get ready to watch Poker Face when the show premieres on Peacock on January 26, 2023.
