No, there’s still no news on whether Netflix will renew their adaptation of The Sandman. But Act III of Audible’s popular audio adaptation has just arrived. Starring James McAvoy as Dream/Morpheus, this Sandman is narrated by author Neil Gaiman himself, and has a stellar cast.
Along with McAvoy, the returning cast includes Kat Dennings (Death), Miriam Margolyes (Despair), Justin Vivian Bond (Desire), Jeffrey Wright (Destiny), and Kristen Schaal (Delirium). Variety notes, “The ensemble cast also includes Andy Serkis, Riz Ahmed, Regé-Jean Page, Kevin Smith, Bebe Neuwirth, Niamh Walsh, Arthur Darvill and Ray Porter. Joining the cast of Audible’s Sandman franchise for the first time are David Harewood as Destruction, Wil Wheaton as Brant Tucker and KJ Apa as Prez.”
Yes: Riverdale‘s Archie Andrews is now in The Sandman. My brain needs a minute.
Act III adapts Brief Lives and Worlds Ends, the seventh and eighth collected volumes of The Sandman. This leaves two further volumes—The Kindly Ones and The Wake—as well as the limited series Overture, which was published last but takes place before Morpheus was captured by Roderick Burgess at the very start of the series.
Audible’s The Sandman is adapted and directed by Dirk Maggs; along with his role as narrator, Gaiman is the series’ creative director and co-executive producer.
The Sandman: Act III is now available on Audible.
