The Curse of Bridge Hollow Trailer Reveals a Hauntingly Sweet Family Movie

Marlon Wayans is a dad and a science teacher who doesn’t believe in spooky things in this fun and Halloween-heavy trailer. Spooky things believe in him, however, and he appropriately freaks out when the local malevolent spirit Stingy Jack brings all the Halloween decorations in his quiet town to life.

Director Jeff Wadlow, a life-long fan of the October 31st holiday, told TUDUM that the movie is his “chance to do some world-building and create this whole canvas of this town that is obsessed with Halloween.”

Here’s the movie’s official synopsis:

A father (Marlon Wayans) and his teenage daughter (Priah Ferguson) are forced to team up and save their town after an ancient and mischievous spirit causes Halloween decorations to come to life and wreak havoc.

That sounds like some fun father-daughter bonding!

Wadlow also added that he looked to the movies he loved as a child to inform how he approached making The Curse of Bridge Hollow.

“I loved the movies of Steven Spielberg and Chris Columbus and Richard Donner growing up, that nostalgic feeling of seeing something special and different and magical,” Wadlow said. “That’s really what we tried to do with this film. We really wanted that ’80s Amblin [Entertainment] tone, but with a modern sensibility, and I hope that that’s what people experience when they watch the movie.”

In addition to Wayans and Ferguson, The Curse of Bridge Hollow stars Kelly Rowland, Rob Riggle, John Michael Higgins, Nia Vardalos, Lauren Lapkus, Holly J. Barrett, Myles Vincent Perez, Abi Monterey, and Helen Slayton-Hughes.

It’s set to scare its way onto Netflix on October 14.
