Pearl, the very disturbing prequel to the very disturbing movie, X, is getting a third installment. Writer-director Ti West shared the news during the Toronto Film Festival, where Pearl is premiering, and we not only have a title for the third film (MaXXXine)—we also have a teaser for it.

The teaser is very much a teaser, though it makes clear that we’ll be heading to 1985’s Los Angeles, which places MaXXXine in between Pearl and X in the blood-spattered timeline of this universe.

In X, which takes place in 1979, actor Mia Goth played both an elderly woman named Pearl who hosts a porn shoot on her house in rural Texas as well as the young star of that shoot, Maxine. The prequel movie, Pearl, focused on Goth’s Pearl when she was a young woman and chronicles how she started down the murderous path of becoming the old woman we saw in X. MaXXXine will be a sequel to X and will focus on Goth’s Maxine, who (spoiler!) is the sole survivor from the events in the first film.

X and Pearl were shot back-to-back in New Zealand, which is why the two films were able to come out in the same year. According to Deadline, however, MaXXXine has yet to be shot, though A24 has greenlit the project and West and Goth are planning to work on it imminently.

While we’re waiting for MaXXXine, check out X on digital and Pearl in theaters starting this Friday, September 16th.
