Today, The Hollywood Reporter broke the news that actor Eman Esfandi (The Inspection) will be playing Ezra Bridger on the upcoming Ahsoka show.

On Rebels, Ezra (second from the left in the photo above) was voiced by Taylor Gray. Bridger was the Luke Skywalker-type on the series—a young man with a lot to learn who, along with the rest of the crew of The Ghost, continues to fight against the empire. Ezra goes missing at the end of Rebels, with Ahsoka and Sabine Wren vowing to find him. Given this casting news, it seems likely that Ahsoka (Rosario Dawson) and Sabine (Natasha Liu Bordizzo) will continue the search in the upcoming series.

Ezra and Sabine (and, of course, Ahsoka) aren’t the only existing Star Wars character we’ll see on the upcoming Disney+ show. Last year, we found out that Vader himself, Hayden Christensen, will be on the series—an impressive feat, given that his character died five years before Ahsoka starts (Force Ghost, anyone?).

This is all speculation, of course—we know next to nothing about the plot and little else except that Rebels co-creator Dave Filoni is writing and overseeing the live-action project with Jon Favreau executive producing.

No news yet on when Ahsoka will make its way to Disney+, though it will likely premiere sometime in 2023.
