The Teaser for Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery Is Perfectly Tantalizing

The return of Benoit Blanc is nearly upon us, and it’s about dang time. Writer-director Rian Johnson’s Knives Out came out in 2019, a year that seems almost mythical at this point. Last year, Johnson made a massive deal with Netflix for two sequels—and the first of those, Glass Onion, is due out in just a few months.

Unsurprisingly, its first trailer looks great.

Netflix is simply not going to tell us a dang thing about the film, which has an absolutely stacked cast: Along with Daniel Craig, returning as expert detective Benoit Blanc, we have Kathryn Hahn, Janelle Monáe, Edward Norton, Kate Hudson, Leslie Odom Jr., Dave Bautista, Jessica Henwick, Madelyn Cline, and Ethan Hawke, who between them have appeared in more Marvel movies and shows than a person can count on one hand. (They have plenty of other credits, too.)

The extremely lacking summary says only, “You’re invited to put the pieces together. In the follow-up to Rian Johnson’s Knives Out, Detective Benoit Blanc travels to Greece to peel back the layers of a mystery involving a new cast of colorful suspects.” According to Variety, the film is set “on the private island of tech billionaire Miles Bron, played by Norton,” so there’s one tiny bit of character detail.

I don’t know whodunnit, but I do know that Janelle Monáe’s side-eye could definitely take a man out. Glass Onion arrives on Netflix on December 23rd.
