Of course there’s a new trailer for The Sandman—it’s Comic-Con weekend! And this one is very promising.

It also spends a lot of time with Boyd Holbrook’s Corinthian, so, you know, fair warning if you don’t feel like having nightmares about teeth eyes.

It’s interesting that this trailer leans so hard on the threat of the Corinthian, when reports from the show’s SDCC panel seemed to suggest that the episodes are their own little stories. Three clips were shown only to attendees: One very tense scene featuring David Thewlis as John Dee, in a certain diner; one a scene involving Johanna Constantine (Jenna Coleman) and a wedding in which the groom is not what he seems; and one from episode six, which includes the iconic conversation Dream (Tom Sturridge) and Death (Kirby Howell-Baptiste) have on a park bench.

But trailers are often misleading! And however the plot works out, the cast here looks smashing, especially Mason Alexander Park as Desire, Gwendoline Christine as Lucifer, Vivienne Acheampong as Lucienne, and Howell-Baptiste as just the most perfect Death, truly, no notes, she’s just right.

The show’s current summary explains:

There is another world that waits for all of us when we close our eyes and sleep — a place called the Dreaming, where The Sandman, Master of Dreams (Tom Sturridge), gives shape to all of our deepest fears and fantasies. But when Dream is unexpectedly captured and held prisoner for a century, his absence sets off a series of events that will change both the dreaming and waking worlds forever. To restore order, Dream must journey across different worlds and timelines to mend the mistakes he’s made during his vast existence, revisiting old friends and foes, and meeting new entities — both cosmic and human — along the way.

Based on the beloved award-winning DC comic series written by Neil Gaiman, The Sandman is a rich, character-driven blend of myth and dark fantasy woven together over the course of ten epic chapters following Dream’s many adventures. Developed and executive produced by Gaiman, showrunner Allan Heinberg, and David S. Goyer.

Also, there are just too many videos of this cast being adorable, so we’ll leave you with this one, in which they interview an interloper:

All ten episodes of The Sandman swoop dreamily onto Netflix on August 5th. And you won’t want to hit stop before the end credits roll: Sandman artist Dave McKean has apparently created a different end credits sequence for each episode!
