The Final Trailer for Jordan Peele’s Nope Reveals Just a Teensy Bit More of the Plot

Jordan Peele’s Nope has looked exciting—and creepy, and appealing, and sly, and unpredictable—since first images for the film were released. It just hasn’t really been clear what the movie is about, other than a pair of Hollywood horse trainers, a rodeo, and probably aliens.

For the final trailer, Peele has finally shown us what’s up his sleeve—or at least a little bit of it. It’s a Jordan Peele movie, following on the heels of Get Out and Us. There are sure to be more surprises.

Keke Palmer (in a Jesus Lizard T-shirt, for unknown and intriguing reasons) and Daniel Kaluuya play siblings who run the only Black-owned horse training ranch in Hollywood. When weird alien shit starts happening, they hatch a plan: get the aliens on film, and sell that film for piles of money. They’re going to get “the Oprah shot,” Palmer says. They bring in Brandon Perea to set up their cameras, and Michael Wincott to help.

Things most likely don’t go according to plan. This trailer almost seems like it shows too much, but Peele doesn’t do anything without a reason. There are rumblings, toward the end, that suggest we don’t really know what’s going on.

Nope looks stunning; cinematographer Hoyte van Hoytema has worked on epic SF before, including Tenet, Interstellar, and Ad Astra. The cast also includes Steven Yeun, Barbie Ferreira, Keith David, Donna Mills, and Andrew Patrick Ralston.

Nope is in theaters July 22nd. If you’re lucky, maybe you can find an IMAX showing.
