Tor.com Is Sponsoring the Flash Fiction Workshop for the 2022 Clarion West Write-a-thon!

Every year, the Clarion West writing workshop holds a summer write-a-thon: Six weeks in which writers set goals for themselves, meet other members of the speculative fiction writing community, and raise money for Clarion West. Anyone can participate in what Clarion calls “one big happy puddle of writerly support.”

Part of the write-a-thon is the Flash Fiction Workshop, in which writers share and critique flash fiction on a weekly basis. This year, Tor.com is proud to sponsor the Flash Fiction Workshop!

This year’s workshop is facilitated by author Andy Duncan. Writers who sign up are randomly assigned to groups of no more than eight writers; each week, every participant writes a flash fiction story, and critiques the work of several other writers. Weekly writing prompts are provided, but writers are not required to write to the prompts.

Writers at any level can take part in the Flash Fiction Workshop; there is no application process.

The mission of Clarion West is to “support emerging and underrepresented voices by providing writers with world-class instruction to empower their creation of wild and amazing worlds.” The organization’s annual six-week summer workshop (separate from the Flash Fiction Workshop) is held in Seattle, Washington, and has an impressive list of alums, including Cadwell Turnbull, Cassandra Rose Clarke, Ann Leckie, Kameron Hurley, and many more.

The deadline for registering for the Flash Fiction Workshop is June 15. For more details or to register, visit the Flash Fiction Workshop information page.
