The First Teaser for Guillermo del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities Is All Vibes

Based on this brief teaser, what can we expect from the anthology series Guillermo del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities? Creepiness. And a whole pile of talent.

Originally called Guillermo del Toro Presents 10 After Midnight, Guillermo del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities is a collection of tales—some based on classic horror work, some based on stories by del Toro—written, directed, and starring a long list of actors and creators handpicked by del Toro himself. Netflix announced some of the details last fall, but didn’t include everything. Still, there’s a lot to get excited about here: Jennifer Kent (The Babadook) writes and directs an episode based on an original story by del Toro, featuring her Babadook star Essie Davis, The Walking Dead’s Andrew Lincoln, and Hannah Galway (Sex/Life); Crispin Glover (American Gods) and Ben Barnes (Shadow and Bone) star in an episode based on an H.P. Lovecraft story, adapted by Lee Patterson (Colony) and directed by Keith Thomas (Firestarter); and Ana Lily Amirpour (A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night) directs an episode written by Haley Z. Boston (Brand New Cherry Flavor) and based on a story by writer/artist Emily Carroll (Through the Woods). To name just a few.

The teaser doesn’t give us much more to go on other than appropriately eerie visuals, creepy music, and del Toro-ian vibes; everything is off-kilter and spooky and elegant, even something so simple as an image of a bird. The anthology series is coming this year, but Netflix has yet to announce a specific date.
