The television adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s The Sandman comic series is coming ever closer to eating away at our eyeballs (yes, that was a Corinthian reference). Today, the streaming platform not only revealed the release date but also treated us to a trailer of the upcoming show.

We’ve already seen a scene from the very beginning of The Sandman, when Morpheus (a.k.a. Dream, a.k.a. actor Tom Sturridge) gets trapped by charlatan and magician Roderick Burgess (Charles Dance). In addition to that, we now have a shiny new trailer that reveals the television version of several memorable scenes from the comics, including Dream escaping from captivity and talking to Matthew the Raven. We also get to see Jenna Coleman doffed in a trenchcoat as Johanna Constantine, and a quick glimpse of Boyd Holbrook as The Corinthian (although, alas, no view of the chompers in his eyes).

The trailer also reveals that the series will premiere on Netflix on August 5, 2022. That’s just two months away! That’s right—a mere eight weeks or so until we can see this adaptation, which has Gaiman on board as an executive producer, as well as Allan Heinberg, and David S. Goyer (Foundation).

In addition to the actors above, the stellar cast includes Gwendoline Christie as Lucifer, Vivienne Acheampong as Lucienne, Patton Oswalt as Matthew the Raven, Mason Alexander Park as Desire, Kirby Howell-Baptiste as Death, and Mark Hamill as Mervyn Pumpkinhead.

We also got some cool posters today, which you take a gander at below:
