First Kill, Netflix’s adaptation of V. E. Schwab’s story of the same name, has a new trailer out, and it looks like the series will live up to its description of a teenage lesbian vampire romance.

The trailer introduces us to actors Sarah Catherine Hook and Imani Lewis as the respective vampiric Juliette and the vampire hunter Calliope. The two are high school students who also must soon face their respective first kills. Love, however, had other ideas for them.

Here’s Netflix’s official synopsis:

When it’s time for teenage vampire Juliette (Sarah Catherine Hook) to make her first kill so she can take her place among a powerful vampire family, she sets her sights on a new girl in town named Calliope (Imani Lewis). But much to Juliette’s surprise, Calliope is a vampire hunter from a family of celebrated slayers. Both find that the other won’t be so easy to kill and, unfortunately, way too easy to fall for.

V. E. Schwab’s short story, “First Kill,” first appeared in the anthology Vampires Never Get Old: Tales With Fresh Bite, edited by Zoraida Córdova and Natalie C. Parker. Netflix picked up the story for adaptation in October 2020, and Felicia D. Henderson (Gossip Girl, Fringe, The Punisher) is showrunning the project.

The eight-episode first season premieres on Netflix on June 10.
