Time travel. It might look like fun, sometimes, but it sure isn’t a good time for Henry (Theo James) in The Time Traveler’s Wife. “It’s not a superpower,” Henry says of his unusual ability. “It’s a disability. It’s what’s wrong with me.”

With the release of the show’s full trailer, HBO has finally announced the premiere date for Stephen Moffat’s adaptation of Audrey Niffenegger’s novel: Prepare to get swoony on May 15th.

The network’s logline for the show is very simple: “An intricate and magical love story, adapted by Steven Moffat from the much loved novel by Audrey Niffenegger and directed by David Nutter, The Time Traveler’s Wife tells the story of Clare and Henry, and a marriage with a problem… time travel.”

But Claire (Rose Leslie) and Henry’s story is anything but simple. He vanishes, he reappears, they meet out of order; his vanishing leaves a gap in her life and a pile of clothes on the floor. (James also appears in some unfortunate makeup to make him look aged-up.) Where the first teaser was all Claire and Henry, this trailer gives us a fuller look at Henry’s extremely stressful existence, and a wider look at the couple’s world and friends, including Natasha Lopez as Charisse and You’re the Worst‘s fantastic Desmin Borges as Gomez.

The series has six episodes; the first episode premieres on HBO and HBO Max on May 15th.
