Charlaine Harris is getting back in the bloodsucker business. Deadline reports that the creator of the Southern Vampire Mysteries—known to many an HBO viewer as True Blood (above)—is working with Realm on a multi-episode podcast series with an “all-new vampire narrative.”

Between this and the multiple impending Anne Rice adaptations coming to AMC, the cycle of vampire entertainment is definitely on the upswing.

Harris gave away nothing about the podcast’s story, saying only that “that exploring these myths and legends for a podcast audience is incredibly exciting for me.” Deadline notes that she’s “the only author ever to have had nine books at the same on the NYT bestseller list at the same time,” which is quite a feat. Her books have been adapted into multiple shows; along with True Blood, there’s Midnight, Texas and Hallmark’s Aurora Teagarden Mysteries.

Realm, which was previously known as Serial Box, has an impressive line-up of podcasts with pop culture connections, from the Orphan Black continuation Orphan Black: The Next Chapter (starring Tatiana Maslany) to Wonder Woman and Black Panther tales. Well-known talent both writes and voices their projects: Marigold Breach, which just launched this week, stars The Good Place‘s Jameela Jamil and Manny Jacinto, and the lineup of authors who’ve written for Realm projects includes Malka Older, Catherynne M. Valente, Yoon Ha Lee, Becky Chambers, SL Huang, Rivers Solomon, Alaya Dawn Johnson, Max Gladstone, and many others.

Harris’s as-yet-unnamed podcast will launch in 2023.
