Is there anything quite as terrifying of having your parents and your partner’s parents meet for the first time? How about having the place where your respective parents meet be a house with a 400-year-old evil entity inside?

That’s the premise of The Parenting, a new horror-comedy written by Kent Sublette and directed by Craig Johnson that centers around a young gay couple named Rohan and Josh who host their inaugural parental meeting at a haunted house.

The cast for The Parenting is an impressive one—The Hollywood Reporter recently announced that Parker Posey (Lost In Space, pictured above) has joined the ensemble production as the manager of the haunted country house who knows more about its long-term resident than she lets on. The parents in The Parenting are none other than Succession patriarch Brian Cox, Breaking Bad’s Edie Falco and Dean Norris, and The Comeback’s Lisa Kudrow. Rohan and Josh will be played by Atypical’s Nik Dodani and Brandon Flynn, whose previous credits include 13 Reasons Why and True Detective.

There’s sadly no news yet on who or what will play the 400-year-old evil entity with poltergeist tendencies, though we do know that the production is set to start filming in Massachusetts today.

Here’s to hoping they’ll be done in time to stream on HBO Max for the spooky season, though the current timeline makes that a bit of a longshot.
