The Arrowverse is alive and well over at The CW! Yesterday, the network announced the early renewal of several shows, though there are a few notable series left off the list.

The CW CEO Mark Pedowitz announced the news yesterday in a statement and shared that The Flash would get a ninth season along with several other shows including Kung Fu (season three), All American (season five), Nancy Drew (season four), Riverdale (season seven), Superman & Lois (season three) and Walker (season three).

“As we prepare for the 2022-23 season, these scripted series, along with the alternative series we renewed earlier [Penn & Teller’s Fool Us, Masters of Illusion and World’s Funniest Animals], will serve as the start of a solid foundation utilizing some of our most-watched series for us to build on for next year and beyond,” Pedowitz said in a statement. “These dramas are also important to our overall digital strategy, as they are some of our most-streamed and socially-engaged programming, and we look forward to adding more new and returning series to help strengthen and expand our multiplatform footprint.”

If you suffered through the corporate-speak above, you might be concerned that some other CW shows like Legends of Tomorrow and Naomi were not on this list of shows important to The CW’s “overall digital strategy.” That doesn’t mean we won’t get more seasons of these series, but it can’t help but fill this Legends fan with a little bit of angst.

These renewals also add to the new shows the CW is developing, such as the Supernatural prequel, The Winchesters, and the DC show Gotham Knights, which just cast Misha Collins to play the two-faced Harvey Dent. Angst about Legends aside, I have to say this is a pretty good lineup to look forward to!
