After several years in development, the television adaptation of Victor LaValle’s The Changeling is moving along at Apple TV+.

We found out last year that the show would star LaKeith Stanfield (Sorry to Bother You) as the main character Apollo, a bookseller who becomes a new father. Today, we found out that the show has also cast two other co-leads on the show:  Apollo’s wife, Emma, and his mother, Lillian.

According to Deadline, Emmy nominee Adina Porter (True Blood, American Horror Story, Underground) will play Lillian, and Clark Backo (Letterkenny, Station Eleven) will play Emma.

In La Valle’s 2017 book (which is, by the way, a modern horror classic), Emma and Apollo are facing the familiar joys and struggles of becoming new parents when some bizarre images on their phones beget something horrible happening to their child.

The television series adaptation is produced by Annapurna Television. Cruella, Venom and Fifty Shades of Grey screenwriter Kelly Marcel penned the adaptation and also serves as showrunner. Melina Matsoukas, whose previous credits include Insecure and Beyoncé’s Formation, will direct.

No news yet on when the show will make its way to Apple’s streaming platform, but given that casting is underway, it’ll likely get here sooner rather than later.
