It’s a semi-annual tradition by now: the shifting of the release dates. The latest studio to move its puzzle pieces around the movie-distribution game board is Warner Bros., which has pushed the release date for many movies back—but brought Shazam! Fury of the Gods into 2022, changing its release date from June 2, 2023, to Dec. 12, 2022.

But if you’ve been looking forward to Black AdamThe Flash, or the Aquaman sequel, you’re going to have to wait a bit longer.

Here are the new dates:

And Then I Woke Up

And Then I Woke Up

  • DC League of Super-Pets premieres July 29, 2022 (previously May 20, 2022)
  • Black Adam premieres October 21, 2022 (previously July 29, 2022)
  • Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom premieres March 17, 2023 (previously December 16, 2022)
  • The Flash premieres June 23, 2023 (previously November 4, 2022)

In the case of Aquaman and The Flash, at least, Variety reports that “COVID-induced production delays with visual effects” are responsible for the changes.

The Willy Wonka prequel no one asked for, Wonka, also moved, and is now scheduled for December 15, 2023 (according to Deadline, Wonka “is truly a Christmas-themed movie,” so this makes sense). And we now know just how long you’ll have to wait for Jason Statham to once again tangle with a giant shark: MEG 2: The Trench premieres on August 4, 2023.

Aquaman‘s new release date puts it up against Avatar 2, which is supposedly really coming out this year. Mark your calendars for the box-office clash of the CGI titans!
