Cliff Beasts 6: The Battle for Everest, Memories of a Requiem, is almost here! What’s that, you say? You’ve never heard of the first five Cliff Beast movies, much less the sixth? That’s because it’s a fake film at the center of Judd Apatow’s upcoming Netflix feature The Bubble, a movie in the vein of Tropic Thunder about the making of a dinosaur blockbuster during Covid lockdown.

The behind-the-scenes clip above introduces us to the fake stars in this fake movie, played by real-life actors Leslie Mann, Iris Apatow, Karen Gillan, David Duchovny, Keegan-Michael Key, Pedro Pascal, Maria Bakalova, and Samson Kayo.

Mann’s character sums up the fake movie’s antagonists pretty well when she says, “Cliff Beasts are these really scary dinosaurs that won’t die, even though we blow them up, like, five times.”

What the fake behind-the-scenes doesn’t capture, however, is that things get pretty bonkers during the fictional production of Cliff Beasts 6. The real movie is called The Bubble, and is clearly Apatow’s pandemic film, as it directly deals with trying to shoot a major feature in a Covid-free bubble.

It also looks funny as all heck, not surprising given Apatow directed and co-wrote the script along with Pam Brady. Check out The Bubble’s trailer below:

This may be the first feature that directly addresses the pandemic that looks kind of good and also kind of hilarious? I think I’m ready for it, if so.

In addition to the stars above, The Bubble cast includes Fred Armisen, Peter Serafinowicz, Vir Das, Rob Delaney, Galen Hopper, Guz Khan, Nick Kocher, Ross Lee, Harry Trevaldwyn, and Danielle Vitalis. It premieres on Netflix on April 1, 2022—April Fool’s Day.
