Some people want kids. Some people don’t want kids. And some people, in the new HBO Max series The Baby, have a kid fall out of the sky and land in their arms.
This is not an ordinary baby—and it’s definitely not a baby that Natasha (Michelle De Swarte) wants to be responsible for.
The Baby is a limited series from Siân Robins-Grace (an executive producer on Sex Education) and Lucy Gaymer (a music supervisor for Fleabag), and the trailer is a trip.

There are babies everywhere. They don’t all act normally. There is a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it playground murder. There’s a disconcerting cut from “baby” to “roast in the oven.” Why is the baby in a field? Why do cops chase the baby? Is there a baby cult? According to Entertainment Weekly, “We’re also introduced to Mrs. Eaves (Amira Ghazalla)—a 70-year-old enigma who has lived out of her car for 50 years and always seems to be everywhere the baby is—and to Natasha’s younger sister, Bobbi (Amber Grappy), a children’s magician who would love nothing more than to be a parent.”
That… that’s a lot. Here’s the summary:
When 38-year-old Natasha is unexpectedly landed with a baby, her life of doing what she wants, when she wants, dramatically implodes. Controlling, manipulative and with violent powers, the baby twists Natasha’s life into a horror show. Where does it come from? What does it want? And what lengths will Natasha have to go to in order to get her life back? She doesn’t want a baby. The baby wants her.
Find out what the baby wants when The Baby premieres on HBO Max on April 24th. The series’ eight episodes will stream weekly.
