Just when you thought you were safe, Leatherface is back, and this time he’ll be ripping through people in a feature film on Netflix.

Want to get a glimpse of the chainsaw-wielding killer and some of his exciting new feats before then? Good news—there’s a new Texas Chainsaw Massacre trailer out today that will give you all that and more, if you dare to watch.

Not even cell phones will stop Leatherface now that he’s on the loose again! The trailer hints at the movie’s premise, but here’s the official synopsis for the film, which explains the plot in more detail:

Melody (Sarah Yarkin), her teenage sister Lila (Elsie Fisher), and their friends Dante (Jacob Latimore) and Ruth (Nell Hudson), head to the remote town of Harlow, Texas to start an idealistic new business venture. But their dream soon turns into a waking nightmare when they accidentally disrupt the home of Leatherface, the deranged serial killer whose blood-soaked legacy continues to haunt the area’s residents—including Sally Hardesty (Olwen Fouéré), the sole survivor of his infamous 1973 massacre who’s hell-bent on seeking revenge.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre, a sequel to 1973’s The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, is directed by David Blue Garcia. The story came from Don’t Breathe duo Fede Álvarez and Rodo Sayagues, with Chris Thomas Devlin writing the screenplay. How will this horror sequel fifty years in the making stack up to the original? The jury’s still out on that one, but we can decide for ourselves when Texas Chainsaw Massacre, in all its gory glory, premieres on Netflix on February 18, 2022.
