If you’re an HBO Max subscriber, it looks like you’ll get to see Dune a bit earlier than expected. According to Decider, the streaming service has sent out a push notification to subscribers saying that the film will debut on the platform on October 21st at 6PM ET, a day before it’s scheduled to officially release in the United States.

Dune has been one of those long-anticipated films, and it’s already premiered in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia, and a bunch of other territories around the world.

The official release date has been Friday, October 22nd, but those release dates are always a bit slippery: For years, you’d see big-budget blockbusters get a midnight release for fans eager to see said film, and that midnight premiere time has slipped back earlier and earlier. Dune is apparently following that trend, and if you check your local theater’s listings, there’s a good chance that you’ll see a 6PM or 7PM screening on Thursday the 21st.

If you don’t want to leave your house to catch the movie, it looks as though HBO Max is also following that early screening trend for Dune. Earlier this summer, it did the same thing with The Suicide Squad, dropping the film on August 5th, rather than August 6th.

There is a catch to all of this: HBO Max has two subscription tiers: a cheaper, ad-supported plan, and an ad-free plan. Warner Bros. has spent the year releasing its theatrical films directly to the streaming service, but only to that ad-free plan.
