Star Trek Day closed on one final gift: news of Star Trek: Picard‘s second season, and the reveal that a third season is already in production!

There’s something very special about watching Picard tell Q that he’s too old for this bullshi—

A brand new trailer was unveiled for Star Trek: Picard, which gives us more detail as to what Q is actually up to this time around… unfortunately for the crew of La Sirena, the near-omnipotent irritant has changed the past to create a totalitarian future, and Picard and cohort must go back in time to undo the damage he has done.

If this sounds a bit like the plot of Star Trek: First Contact, that would seem to be entirely intentional—Jean-Luc’s only route to time travel is using the Borg, and a quick hook-up (pun intended?) to the Queen sends them back to the past. Hijinks ensue, some of them funny, but plenty of them far more dire-looking.

Everyone in the trailer is lovely as ever, but please more Seven and Raffi as mission girlfriends? Please??

As a secondary announcement, fans were told that Picard has been greenlit for a third season with production already underway! Star Trek: Picard‘s second season will premiere in February 2022.
