The Star Trek treats keep coming from San Diego Comic-Con@Home. This year’s Star Trek Universe presentations focused on the animated shows, so it’s no surprise that a new trailer for Star Trek: Lower Decks followed on the heels of our first look at Star Trek: Prodigy. And this one’s more than a minute long!
Showrunner Mike McMahan’s half-hour series introduced the low-level crew-behind-the-crew of the U.S.S. Cerritos, “one of Starfleet’s least important ships.” Back in April, Paramount offered a tiny teaser for season two: 30 seconds of “sci-fi stuff,” snakes, and a very stressed out Boimler (Jack Quaid), having a hard time in his new role on the U.S.S. Titan.
This longer look teases a whole new series of misadventures for the gang: being left behind (a whole team), getting tossed in the brig (Tawny Newsome’s Mariner), getting … excreted? … by a giant space slug (Noël Wells’s Tendi). There’s a rude computer, a talking plate, and a whole lot more. Is that a huge green space crawdad? How will Boimler get from the Titan back to his friends on the Cerritos?
Lower Decks premiered last year, and has already been renewed for a 10-episode third season. It will return on Thursday, August 12th.
