SFF made quite the strong showing in this year’s Emmy nominations. The Mandalorian tied with The Crown for the most nods this year (24 each), and WandaVision is just a step behind (23). The Handmaid’s Tale and Lovecraft Country are also in the double digits, with 21 nominations for Handmaid‘s and 18 for Lovecraft.

The WandaVision nods mark the first time Marvel has been recognized by the Emmys, and include nominations for stars Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany (and, of course, the sublime Kathryn Hahn).

Marvel also got a nod for Don Cheadle’s guest actor appearance in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Apart from one actor from The Crown, that category is all SFF: Cheadle, Courtney B. Vance on Lovecraft Country, and both Timothy Olyphant and Carl Weathers on The Mandalorian.

Lovecraft Country‘s nominations include nods for stars Jonathan Majors and Jurnee Smollett. The show is one of eight series nominated for best drama series, along with The Boys, The Mandalorian, and The Handmaid’s Tale. Both WandaVision and The Underground Railroad are nominated as best limited series.

The Emmy categories get fascinatingly granular; if you want to do a deep dive, the full list is here. For a list of major-category nominees, this should do.
