WEEK ONE (July 6)

WEEK TWO (July 13)

A Psalm for the Wild-Built (Monk & Robot #1)—Becky Chambers (Tordotcom Publishing)

The Freedom Race (Dreambird #1)—Lucinda Roy (Tor Books)

The second Civil War, the Sequel, came and went in the United States leaving radiation, sickness, and fractures too deep to mend. One faction, the Homestead Territories, dealt with the devastation by recruiting immigrants from Africa and beginning a new slave trade while the other two factions stood by and watched. Ji-ji Lottermule was bred and raised in captivity on one of the plantations in the Homestead Territories of the Disunited States to serve and breed more “muleseeds”. There is only one way out―the annual Freedom Race. First prize, freedom. An underground movement has plans to free Ji-ji, who unknowingly holds the key to breaking the grip of the Territories. The Fallen (Outside)—Ada Hoffman (Angry Robot)

WEEK THREE (July 20)

The Past Is Red—Catherynne M. Valente (Tordotcom Publishing)

The future is blue. Endless blue… except for a few small places that float across the hot, drowned world left behind by long-gone fossil fuel-guzzlers. One of those patches is a magical place called Garbagetown. Tetley Abednego is the most beloved girl in Garbagetown, but she’s the only one who knows it. She’s the only one who knows a lot of things: that Garbagetown is the most wonderful place in the world, that it’s full of hope, that you can love someone and 66% hate them all at the same time. But Earth is a terrible mess, hope is a fragile thing, and a lot of people are very angry with her. Then Tetley discovers a new friend, a terrible secret, and more to her world than she ever expected.

Notes From the Burning Age—Claire North (Orbit)

Interchange (Junction)—Daniel M. Bensen (Flame Tree Press)

A year ago, Anne Houlihan uncovered a wormhole to Junction, a patchwork planet of competing alien biomes. Now, she and Daisuke are going back to investigate “The Howling Mountain,” the possible location of a wormhole into space. WEEK FOUR (July 27)

Hold Fast Through The Fire (NeoG)—K.B. Wagers (Harper Voyager)
