Tom Hiddleston has a message for you. He thinks Loki deserves a bit more attention. So heroic! So clever! So deserving of a new premiere date for his own Disney+ show!
And that’s what this cute little announcement is all about: Disney+ has moved Loki’s premiere date up two days, to June 9th, and new episodes will now arrive weekly on Wednesdays.
Loki is next up in Marvel’s lineup of TV spinoffs, following pretty close on the heels of WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. It’s set after Loki made off with the Tesseract, which seemed to create an alternate timeline of some sort—though according to the trailer, he actually broke reality. Counting on a trickster to help clean up his own mess seems like an unwise choice, but does the TVA have much choice in the matter?
The show’s six episodes are directed by Kate Herron (Sex Education) and the head writer is Michael Waldron, who also wrote Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (to which Loki will most certainly connect) and who was recently tapped to write Kevin Feige’s Star Wars film.
It’s a big corporate-synergistic world out there! Here’s hoping Loki can have some fun with it—a little sooner than expected.
